PILATES CLASSES

WHY PILATES?

Pilates is a low-impact approach to working out your entire body. It’s great for all fitness levels, from people with a sedentary lifestyle looking to ease back into fitness to elite athletes striving to improve in their primary sport. Pilates can help older individuals increase or maintain strength and mobility as they age. Resistance and movements are customized to your abilities, so everyone will feel challenged, but without the risk of overuse injuries.

Whether you are looking for a routine to get you started, or you are already an athlete looking to take your performance to the next level, Pilates is a great next step!

PILATES MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF YOUR GOALS INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Building muscle
  • Improving flexibility
  • Increasing core strength
  • Decreasing stress
  • Improving sports performance
  • Preparing for or recovering from surgery

WHAT IS PILATES?

Kingwood Fitness offers two types of Pilates training:
Mat Pilates (included with your membership) and Reformer Pilates ($20/session for members,
$30/session for non-members). All Pilates classes focus on precision and proper
muscular engagement. They provide a low impact, full-body workout at
each session, and all sessions end with stretching.

MAT PILATES

Mat Pilates consists of choreographed exercises performed on the floor, either lying down, sitting, or standing. Originally limited to a set of 34 exercises, today’s Mat Pilates classes offer a variety of options and may include the use of resistance bands, BOSU balls, or foam rollers. Mat Pilates challenges your core by requiring stability and coordination when performing the movements. It’s great for all levels of fitness.

REFORMER PILATES

Reformer Pilates is done on a machine called a reformer. There is a moving platform, called a carriage, which is attached to the end of the reformer with springs. The springs allow you to adjust the resistance to the carriage. You move the carriage using straps that you control with your arms or legs. The carriage supports your body and glides along rails. The reformer allows for a full range of motion, which is ideal for building strength in your arms and legs, while also strengthening your core. It provides a comprehensive, full-body workout.

Why Choose Kingwood
Fitness for Pilates?

  • We offer small-group reformer Pilates at a great price!
  • Small sessions guarantee personal attention and instructor guidance.
  • We customize the class to your fitness goals.
  • We offer private and semi-private lessons if you prefer even more individualized attention.
In addition to Pilates, when you join Kingwood Fitness you have access to a full gym and all our other group fitness classes.

While many gyms in the area offer Pilates, none offer the value you’ll find at Kingwood Fitness. Mat Pilates is included with your membership, and you don’t need to reserve a spot in class. Reformer Pilates is a small-group session, so you need to reserve your spot. Each class is just $20 for members, which is the best deal in Kingwood!

We have four reformers in our studio, which allows our instructor to customize the session and give each person individualized attention.

While most gyms are just a place you go to work out, Kingwood Fitness is a community of supportive people that will soon become your friends. Having a supportive group of people around you helps turn a healthy activity into a healthy habit.
